Attending a wedding expo/show is a fantastic way to gather information and get inspiration for planning your big day. The Wonderful Wedding Show is coming up in Winnipeg on March 12 & 13, 2022 at the RBC Convention Centre. The WWS is Manitoba’s largest gathering of vendors and wedding-related services all under one roof. Here are some of our tips and tricks for you to get the most out of your visit to the show.
1. Come Prepared
Look for your favourite wedding pros beforehand, this way you can easily find them at the show, interact with them and ask questions that you couldn’t answer from reading their Google reviews, WeddingWire reviews and different social media platforms. You can find a list of the attending vendors on the Wonderful Wedding Show website. Note the booth number of the vendors you’d like to see and visit them first thing while your feet will still carry you. Remember, there isn’t a rule that says you have to visit every booth or go in an aisle by aisle fashion. Find your favourites first, then look for what you need after and ignore what you don’t need or are not interested in. If you are looking for DJ and music services or outdoor tent wedding rentals, be sure to come to see us, Endless Events Group, at booths W19-24 and ask for our "Golden Ticket" Promo code to receive $200 off your DJ Booking!
2. Dress Comfortably
The Wonderful Wedding Show has over 10,000 square feet filled with every type of wedding service. Be sure to wear sensible, comfortable shoes as there is a lot to see and you will be on your feet for a while and you will be walking on a hard concrete floor. Consider wearing a thinner jacket and parking in a heated parkade so you do not have to carry a big winter jacket.
3. Who Should I Bring With Me?
The wedding show is a perfect opportunity to celebrate with your girls. But it can become overwhelming. Saturday tends to be a lot busier. We suggest getting a weekend pass. This way, you can come on Saturday with your friends/family and come back on Sunday with your significant other to visit the vendors you are serious about learning more about their services. The vendors will be less busy, and it is a great opportunity to get more in-depth with your questions.
Here’s a tip; if you know the vendors you are interested in and know you want to book them, don’t be afraid to book them at the show if you feel it’s right. Dates for 2022 & 2023 are filling up quickly.
4. Contests & Draws
Enter ONLY the contests that you are interested in and would make use of, entering all others would be a waste of your time. For example, entering a contest for a destination wedding when you are planning on getting married locally doesn’t make sense. Entering a contest to win local Wedding services makes sense as you are actively planning your wedding in Winnipeg, Steinbach or the surrounding area.
Rules for contests to look for: Any contest or draw that includes the following 3 elements, Chance (Random draw), Consideration (Costs money to enter) and Prize (You could “Get” something) is considered gambling and can only be run by the LGCA and any contest requiring you to make a purchase is considered illegal. So “Win a free lighting package if you book your DJ services” is actually not allowed.
Make sure to read the “Terms & Conditions" when entering a contest, this will save you from setting yourself up for disappointment. You can do this if you research the wedding professionals before the show OR just ask to see the terms.
Be prepared to see “double opt-ins” such as having to click or check off the “☑️ I consent to receive marketing material from …” Companies are required by law to have your consent before sending you emails or text messages so when you see the consent forms or double opt-ins know that they are for legal reasons
5. Stay Organized
Taking photos of the vendors in addition to bringing along a notebook or paper to write down notes will help you keep the information you gather from the show organized. There may be fliers or business cards that you get, but if you cannot remember which business they are from it isn’t very helpful.
There may also be times when a vendor asks for contact information from you, for a prize etc. In the past, brides have premade sticker labels with their name, phone number and email address. This makes your time spent at a booth more efficient and you can focus on the information and asking questions instead of filling out a draw entry.
Attending the WWS is a fantastic opportunity to see what Manitoba has to offer for wedding services. The Wonderful Wedding Show 2022 will be at the RBC Convention Centre on March 12 & 13. You can get your tickets on the Wedding Show website or at the doors.
